This Kickstarter launches Starry Is Hope’s first mission: providing 529 families of the fallen with a free copy of Starry’s Journey.

If we reach our full funding goal, each family will also receive a Starry plush companion.

Backers can choose from multiple reward tiers, with options ranging from books and plushies to opportunities to directly sponsor families.

The number 529 honors May 29, 2019, when our founder lost her husband, Todd, an Air Force veteran, and May 29, 2025, the founding date of Starry Is Hope—symbolizing remembrance, rebirth, and love that lives on.

Yes, Starry is Hope is federally recognized as a non-profit organization as a 501(c)(3) entity and all donations are tax deductible.

Your donation goes directly towards bringing comfort and hope to children and families navigating grief after the loss of a loved in military or first-responder service.  It helps place Starry’s Journey in their hands at no cost to them, it helps create and distribute Starry comfort bundles (which includes plushies), it helps support growing initiatives to connect families of fallen together and it sustains the work of Starry is Hope so we can continue showing up for families with care, dignity and compassion.

We would be honored to receive a donation in tribute to someone special. When you make your gift, please complete the section that asks for your loved one’s name and, if you wish, share any details about them.

Zeffy is a platform that is tailored to collect donations for non-profit organizations.

The platform does not charge fees to the organization or the donator(s) to utilize it.

They do create an OPTIONAL tip that assists in keeping the platform free to all who use.
